In A-grade, the Rhinos continue their match against ladder leaders Cobram.
After winning the toss and batting first, the Rhinos successfully batted the 80 overs on day one, finishing on 7/209.
Tomorrow, if they can defend that total the Rhinos will take the last remaining finals position.
Should Cobram chase down the Rhinos total, the Deni team will be relying on Tocumwal to beat Katamatite in one of the round’s other matches.
Katamatite require 130 runs as they are 2/34 chasing 164 and are looking to leapfrog the Rhinos into the last finals spot.
The finals are within the Rhinos control, but it will be a challenge, with Cobram having successfully chased in each of their two-day matches this season.
Cobram’s only loss this season came in a one-day match against the Rhinos at Deni, chasing 170.
There will also be a bit of added atmosphere with Cobram hosting a premiership reunion for their 1984-85 and 1985–86 teams.
In B-grade, the Rhinos are also away tomorrow against fourth-placed hosts Barooga.
The Rhinos are sixth on the ladder with seven wins and six losses and will be out to finish the season strongly against a finals side.
In the final home and away round of junior MVCA cricket this week, the under-15s Rhinos have a bye but are set to make the two-day semi-finals as they are in third place.
Meanwhile, the Rhinos under-13s were set to play their final match for the season at home yesterday afternoon against Finley and are third on the ladder heading into the match based on average points.
