After a busy couple of months there was a return to normal competition, with stableford played on Thursday, Saturday and Wednesday.
Thursday’s winner was Jen Choice with an impressive 42 points, from runner-up Prue Lloyd on 34.
On Saturday, there were three grades.
A-grade winner was John Radeski with 40 points from runner-up Ross Pogonoski 39, B-grade winner was Stephen Townsend with 40 points from runner-up Albert Liebenberg 39, and in C-grade youngster Rivah Taylor continued her improvement to take the prize with 41 points from runner-up Karen Butcher 39.
On Wednesday Graeme Willoughby won A-grade with 38 points on countback from Chris Thomson, Norm Purtill had 40 points to win B-grade from runner-up Mark Thomas 36, and Tim Chartres had 42 points to win C-grade from runner-up Sacha Free 41.
On Sunday, a group of Deniliquin golfers travelled to Barham for the Western Riverina District Golf Association mixed fourball competition, played in very windy conditions.
Jen Choice and Ross Pogonoski had been in good form leading up to the event and were a little unlucky to be beaten on countback, but happy with the runners-up prize. Graeme and Marg Rothwell, along with John and Marg Radeski, featured in the ball competition and Sarah Aitken won a NTP to cap off a good day for the Deni players.
Coming up we have another stableford event tomorrow, then Tuesday will be 12 holes par three, Wednesday is stableford and Thursday is four-person ambrose.
The club was excited to announce the opening of Flagstick Bistro, which will occur on December 1.
It will see the bistro open for lunch and dinner six days a week (closed Tuesdays), and also available for functions, including Christmas parties.
To make a booking or with any queries, contact Sophie at the club.
The call-out continues for used golf balls that are suitable for the driving range. Balls are disappearing, forcing the club to purchase replacements.
Any help with the donation of secondhand balls would be appreciated.
Anyone purchasing golf balls from the dispensing machine at the range is asked to ensure they are only used on the practice fairway so they can be collected and re-used.
Don’t forget Friday night fun tonight, with happy hour from 6pm, and raffle tickets available from 6pm with draws scheduled for 7pm.
