The qualifying round for the Nesbit Mixed Knockout, a fourball best ball event, was played on Sunday and winners were Kerran Leetham and Oscar Marshall with 46 points.
Just one shot away were runners-up Felicity McCalman and Graham Flanagan on 45, with a further shot to Ali Ferguson and Nick Metcalfe 44.
Saturday was also a fourball best ball event and the winners were Dylan Osborne and George Kenney-Herbert with 49 points, from runners-up Brian Bourke and Nick Metcalfe on 47. In third place were David Grant and Russell Begg with 45 points.
In Wednesday’s stableford event, the A-grade winner was Tom Maw with 40 points from runner-up Chris Mitsch 39; B-grade winner Graeme Rothwell 36 from runner-up Rob Armytage 34; and C-grade winner Jane Glowrey with 37 points from runner-up Brian Dixon 34.
Also on Wednesday, a contingent of Deniliquin lady golfers travelled to Finley to compete in the Finley Ladies Open. Players were Pauline Davis, Jen Choice, Prue Grant, Vicki Seely, Sasha Free, Ann Bull, Yvonne Holmes, Denise Hunter and Colleen Henderson.
There was a field of 52 players over three grades. All competitors struggled with very strong winds and tricky pin placements on slick greens. Jen Choice was scratch runner-up in B-grade and four Deni ladies featured in the ball comp. There was also some luck in the raffle.
Coming up we have a stroke event for the men’s monthly medal tomorrow, 9 holes stableford aggregate on Tuesday, then stableford events on Wednesday and Thursday. Next Saturday is the coveted Borella Cup, and Sunday will be the Mixed Keno 2-person ambrose.
In the clubhouse, raffles and meals continue tonight. Raffle tickets will be on sale from 6pm with draws at 7pm, and happy hour from 6pm to 7pm. Don’t forget that meals are available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights with the new popular winter menu.
Also coming up in the clubhouse is Christmas In July, on Wednesday, July 16. A traditional Christmas roast dinner will be served and a fun evening guaranteed. Cost is $35 per person, with bookings essential at the club.
