Deniliquin Golf Club will host two important events over the coming week.
First up, we have Presentation Day and Volunteers Day, to be held this Sunday, December 14.
Without the support of volunteers, the club would not be able to operate, and Sunday is an opportunity for the board to say a big “thank you”.
It will also see presentations from major events held throughout the past year.
Next Thursday, December 18 is the annual general meeting in the clubhouse from 6.30pm.
All members are encouraged to attend, as this is an important opportunity to review the club’s past year and contribute to its future direction.
On course, we had a stroke event for monthly medals on Saturday.
Men’s medal winner was Duncan McQuie with net 70 and the women’s medal winner was Denise Hunter with net 67.
A-grade winner was Rich River visitor Lachlan Kelly net 67 from runner-up Chris Thomson 72; B-grade winner Duncan McQuie 70 on countback to runner-up Lyn O’Brien, and C-grade winner was Denise Hunter 67 on countback to runner-up Michael Byrne.
Last Thursday was also a stroke event.
A-grade winner was Rich River visitor Peter McKechnie net 69 from runner-up Lyn O’Brien 71, and B-grade winner Marg Radeski net 70 from runner-up Sacha Free 71.
In Wednesday’s stableford event, there were some excellent scores, with at least 40 points needed to figure in the money.
A-grade winner was Josh Hunt with 42 points on countback to Ken Wemyss, B-grade Tony Kew 41 from runner-up Peter Beckton 40, and C-grade Jeff ‘Dickie’ Grant with 42 from runner-up Sacha Free 41.
Coming up it is versus par tomorrow, then a string of stableford events – Tuesday 9 holes, Wednesday, Thursday 9 and 18 holes, and Saturday.
It has been great to see the clubhouse buzzing with many people enjoying the excellent meals from Flagstick Bistro.
Members and guests have been very impressed with the quality, extensive menu and reasonable pricing.
Don’t forget Friday Night Fun, which continues tonight.
Raffle tickets are available from 6pm with draws at 7pm, and the prizes will include hams, just in time for Christmas.
