A great time was had by Benalla kids aged 5 to 12 years old at the Churchill Reserve Hockey Field last Thursday, when Benalla Hockey Club hosted a free ‘Come and Try Hockey’ evening.

Everyone borrowed hockey sticks, balls and shin pads, and learnt to be ‘hockey ready!’ and the three golden rules.

Fun games of ‘What’s the Time Mr Hockey?’ and ‘Number Hockey’ taught dribbling and tackling, with the all-time favourite ‘ Hoctopus’ seeing some fantastic stick work to dodge the seaweed.
All the hockey players agreed they had great fun, with some kids not wanting to go home.
Free Come and Try sessions continue this Thursday, March 12 and next, so head down at 4pm to play from 4:15 to 5:15pm. All are welcome and no experience is necessary, just bring a drink and a hat.
For more details and to RSVP for the free sessions, please see Benalla Hockey on Facebook, or email benallahockey@gmail.com.
