With six Peppin players winning their three sets, the match was closely fought out and Mitre 10 was able to establish its lead in the three-round mixed sets.
Mitre 10 won 20 sets and 141 games to Peppin 11 sets 126 games.
Rose led her team strongly winning her three sets, together with teammates Georgia Denny, Riley Hamilton, Jack Eastman, Rowan Frazer, and Rich Larcombe.
Mitre 10 won five sets to Peppin’s four in the first round of matches.
In the second round, Mitre 10 established a strong lead, winning eight of the 12 sets.
In the mixed sets, Mitre 10 continued winning seven sets to Peppin’s three sets.
Peppin had two ladies win their three sets - Susie Reid and Eliza Eastman.
The match saw eight sets decided in tie-breaks.
Peppin lost five of the eight sets, perhaps indicating that a little extra effort in the tie-breaks could turn the result around.
In the match between cellar dwellers Legal Eagles and third placed Deni Newsagency, Newsagency surged ahead with 18 sets 149 games to Eagles’ 13 sets 133 games.
Eagles were able to share sets six each in the middle round, however in the first and mixed rounds Newsagency out scored their opposition.
Five Newsagency players won three sets - their three top men players, John Henderson, Michael Williams, and Harley Moore, as well as Andrew Smith and John Sibree.
For Eagles, Lucy Horne, Riley Chaplin, Henry Pisasale and Andrew Hermiston had strong performances, winning their three sets.
It was exciting to see three Hermiston family members playing for Legal Eagles.
Fill-in brothers Jim and Andrew Hermiston joined Jim's son, James.
It was reminiscent of Saturday afternoon tennis years ago, when those three would have been joined by Jan Hermiston and patriarch Bill Hermiston.
Andrew won his three sets, while Jim won a set playing with Lucy Horne.
