PDL | Blighty prepares for Katandra clash

Blighty will travel to Katandra this weekend for Saturday afternoon Picola and District Football League action.

The Redeyes, who are yet to win a game this season, will be up against it this week with a quality Katandra side sure to be difficult to beat at home.

To make matters worse for Blighty, the side will be missing a number of players due to a wedding with reserves players Anthony Street, Josh Sharp and Andrew Simpson set to step up to boost the side.

“They’ve (Street, Sharp and Simpson) been playing pretty consistent football in the twos,” Blighty coach Kyel Bain said.

“I’m expecting a pretty fast-paced Katandra side, I know last year when we played them they were very fit and fast.”

Bain said his side would focus on shutting down Katandra’s forward line and midfield and while the scoreboard has not been in the side’s favour so far this season, it had certainly improved.

“It’s just about us gelling as a team, we’re trying to rebuild and I think the blokes that we’ve got are doing a pretty good job at it.”

Aaron Litchfield will be one to watch for Blighty on the weekend, with the full-back playing good football in recent weeks.

Blighty will travel to the Katandra Recreation Reserve on Saturday, with the Redeyes taking on the Kats at 2.05pm.
