Peppin Planners have jumped to top of the table after winning again in round two of the twilight tennis competition.

They recorded a strong win of 22 sets 156 games to Deni Newsagency nine sets 105 games. Peppin had an astounding nine players winning their three sets - ladies Maggie Camilleri and Ruby Hicks, and men Hugo McGrillen, Josh Leech, Anish Shanbag, Ben Milliken, Nick Bliss, Jack McGrillen and Rob Wettenhall. A strong performance right across the 18 players in the team.
Steph Calder and Donna McCluskey playing for Deni Newsagency did their best winning their three sets in the losing side.
It might have been a quiet trip home in the Gordon/McGrillen car after tennis with Hugo and Jack McGrillen winning their three sets while mother Monique didn’t bother the scorer. These three all play for Peppin.
Mitre 10 jumped to a strong start in their match against Legal Eagles winning seven of the first nine sets. Eagles turned around and won the second set 7/5 but Mitre 10 showed their dominance in the mixed sets 6/4. Final scores were Mitre 10 18 sets 144 games to Eagles 13 sets 123 games.
Three set winners for Mitre 10 were Shelby Taggert, Steve Todd and Nick Metcalfe, while for Legal Eagles it was Lucy Horne and Elyse Hood who held their team together. Only five players winning their three sets points to some close tussles in the match.
Peppin have streaked to the lead on the table with two wins and 42 sets, Mitre 10 has one win and 38 sets, Legal Eagles has one win and 33 sets while Deni Newsagency has 22 sets.
Club president Harley Moore commented after the tennis that the 60 km/h winds that sprung up 30 minutes after play started were a hindrance, with tennis and wind are a poor combination.
