The Bluegate Polocrosse Club will be holding its annual carnival at the Pretty Pine Recreation Reserve on Saturday and Sunday.
The club will host multiple grades of polocrosse - a six-a-side horse-based team sport that is a combination of polo and lacrosse.
Over the two days, organisers say attendees can see around 100 polocrosse players from across the country compete.
Bluegate Polocrosse Club member Sarah Beer said the club is looking forward to various polocrosse teams visiting for the long weekend.
“We’re hoping to get anywhere between 12 to 15 teams.
“That will include players from all over Victoria and southern NSW, and we tend to get some players from the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia too.
“It is quite a lot of travel, and you do have to be very committed to it.
“It is normally run on the King’s Birthday long weekend, so players and teams plan to come for the whole weekend.
“We’re hoping to do A, B and C-grade, plus some mini juniors for the younger kids coming up and learning the sport.”
Spectators are encouraged, and a canteen will be open.
“We’ve got a canteen that operates on site with cash and card available, which makes it easy these days.
“The public is more than welcome to come down and have a look.
“It is something different for their weekend.”
Saturday games generally run from around 8.30am to 3pm, with Sunday featuring the social games and finals at similar times.
