Each has made a significant contribution to the club over many years.
Lindsay has been involved for 16 years, during which time he has worked on infrastructure maintenance, mowing lawns, repairing machinery, race day preparations, bar stocking, cleaning up post races and just helping out wherever and whenever he can.
Fellow life member Peter Joss said Lindsay had been a great person to have on the committee, as he has extensive knowledge in many areas and “can generally fix most things on all types of mowers”.
He has also spent many hours watering surrounds and making sure everything was ready for race day.
His attitude towards helping the club in many capacities over 16 years was described as “amazing” and the life membership was “very well deserved”.
Todd Newman has been involved with the Racing Club for more than 15 years, continuing a family tradition from his father, Peter.
Todd has always had the interests of the club at heart and has been there to oversee many of the major works over the years and always endeavouring to improve the standard of infrastructure at the racecourse.
He is a keen racing enthusiast who has also filled the role of vice president for a number of years and made a great contribution to the club.
Racing Club president Sam Hall thanked both Lindsay and Todd for their contributions to the club, which have helped keep the ‘sport of kings’ active in Deniliquin.
“Our club relies heavily on volunteers for its survival, and the level of commitment they have shown has played a key role in the success of Deniliquin Racing Club,” he said.
