Play is scheduled to begin at 12.30pm on Saturday, November 22 at Katunga Recreation Reserve, and continue next Saturday, November 29.
A-grade coach John Arthur said the longer format brings a different challenge.
“It’s a different game of cricket, you’ve got to be able to bat longer and field longer,” he said.
The Rhinos will be without Charlie Peyton and Noah Bradley, but brothers Kai and Charlie Hillier have both put their hands up for selection, adding depth to the squad.
“There are plenty of players after selection, which is a good problem to have,” Arthur said.
The Rhinos will hope to stick to their proven game plan, try and win the toss and bat first, post a big total, and apply scoreboard pressure.
Griegan French and Harry Hillier have both been in strong form with the bat, and the team will be looking to carry that momentum into the longer format.
Arthur acknowledged Katunga’s strong recruitment and the challenge of playing away.
“Katunga have recruited really well and will have the home field advantage,” he said.
“You always prefer to play at home, but as long as it’s a good pitch that gives both teams a fair chance, it’ll be fine.”
Meanwhile, the Rhinos B-grade side will be at home this Saturday for a one-day match against Katunga, buoyed by a solid win last week.
“B-grade had a good win last week and will be looking to match that effort,” Arthur said.
“A lot of younger guys got the call-up from the under-15s and played really well, so that’s a confidence booster for the team.”
With both sides building momentum and depth, the Rhinos are shaping up for a strong showing across the grades this weekend.
