The June long weekend was a very busy and successful weekend at the Deni RSL Bowling Club, as they hosted 78 bowlers for their Kings Birthday Triples Tournament.

Starting with typical June foggy conditions, the sun finally shone, and the rain held off for the entirety of the two day event.
The RSL Bowling Clubs greens and clubrooms were overflowing with bowlers, families, supporters, Diggers members and committee.
There were 26 teams, who played six games of 14 ends over two days.
The format, different to previous years, proved to be a success with teams travelling from near and far, vying for top prize money.
Players gathered early both days for breakfast in the clubrooms and were well-fed again at lunch with three course meals prepared and served by the hardworking Diggers committee and members.
Saturday saw the Eaglehawk team of Gary Beckham, Nev Boland and Garry Confirti (s) take the honours with their three games won.
Coming a close second with three wins also was Deniliquin Bowling Clubs’ Lindsay Dalzell, Jo Bovell and Linda Harris (s).
In third place was Doug Stevens, Craig Barbour and Miles Probert (s) from Mooroolbark and the combination Deni RSL/Mathoura team of Craig Taylor (s), Gaye Goodwin and Deb Dunkley were placed fourth 4th.
The best last game winners were Mick Donohue, Trevor Liddell and Ivan Hicks (s) from Echuca/DBC.
The wins didn’t stop there.
Miles Probert won ‘Lucky Squares’, pocketing $100, and 15 names were drawn from the barrel in the Diggers raffle with winners thrilled with the choice of prizes.
Sunday was an equally beautiful day on the greens.
There was some fierce determination to get the big win, but all games were played in great spirit.
Sundays major winners were Mick Coram, Kieran Gardner and Mick Turnbull (s), and once again, Mick Donohue, Trevor Liddell and Ivan Hicks (s) from Echuca/DBC had success and ran second.
The combination Deni RSL/DBC team of John Hulm, Tony Danckert and Garry Hulm (s) placed third and fourth was David Scott, Helen Scott, George Herbert (s).
Best last game winners for Sunday were Daryl Weymouth, Chris Taylor, Mark Quor (s) from Deniliquin Bowling Club.
Equal winners in the clubrooms were Stuart Taylor and Lindsay Dalzell on ‘Lucky Squares’, pocketing $100 each.
There were another 15 raffles prizes drawn and won.
RSL Bowls Club president Niels Hilton and vice president Rod Reid, thrilled with the huge successful weekend, thanked all bowlers for their attendance, their friendship and great sportsmanship over the weekend.
Thanks were also extended to all members who helped make the weekend a success, and to Mark Law for his umpiring skills and general assistance.

The greens were packed with competition across the tournament long weekend.
