Saints thirds through to prelim

The young Saints took a little while to settle, with both teams holding firm 1.2 at the first break.

It wasn't long before the mids, backs and forward line kicked up a gear, dictating the contest.

As the sun broke through, so did Berrigan.

The Saints found their rhythm and took control of the game to run out winners, with seven individual goalscorers.

Joel Fitzell gave his best performance to date and Clem Surrey was relentless in the back half, providing pace and sending the ball forward.

Hudson Ware broke through with some pivotal intercepting marks, lacing out Jack Philips in the forward half nicely.

Thomas Baxter earned himself best on honours by consistently attacking the ball, intense tackling pressure and also snagging himself a major.

Nick Arnold, Taylor Thornton, Jack Magill equally impactful through the middle finding the footy, chasing opponents down sending the footy forward.

Jordan Swann was stellar across the ground making good decisions finishing with two goals, while Josh Monteath played his role exceptionally well and got the Saints on the board early with a spectacular goal.

Jack Smith served up a miraculous goal at the right time in the third quarter and set the goal scoring pace from then, and Jack Phillips, Zavier Binns and Logan Peasley also hit the scoreboard with a major each in a strong and solid team performance.

The thirds have now earned a week off before the preliminary final at Blighty on September 6.
