The youngsters, another example of the strength of junior golf at the club, will both be off a significantly reduced handicap in their next round after scoring 44 and 45 points respectively.
They were 16 points clear of runners-up, Graeme Butcher and Michael Atley on 73 points, with Ethan Connolly and Oliver Dellwo next best on countback.
Last Thursday was a singles stableford with 9 and 18 hole events. The 9 hole winner was Esther Bolton scoring 19 points from runner-up Marg Marshall 16, and in the 18 hole competition Jackson Campbell had 38 points to defeat runner-up Vicki Brunker 35.
In Tuesday’s 9 hole event the winner was Barb Telford with 16 points from runner-up Kym Sandford 15.
On Wednesday the A grade winner was Michael Everett with 39 points on countback from Thomas Maw, B grade winner Geoff McCallum 38 from runner-up Stephen Townsend 36, and C grade Robert Karaitiana 38 from runner-up Graeme Rothwell 37.
Coming up we have a stableford event tomorrow, then Deniliquin Golf Club will host the Riverina Lefties on Sunday.
Next Tuesday is 12 holes American Foursomes, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday is 2-person ambrose, and next weekend is the Autumn Classic, sponsored by Purtills and Wired Entertainment.
This fourball best ball event will include men’s and ladies 18 hole events on both the Saturday and Sunday, plus 36 holes scratch and handicap over the two days.
Entry forms are available, and cost is $25 per day. Entries close next Wednesday.
The Deniliquin ladies have started the defence of their summer pennant in style with two wins. Last week the team travelled to Murray Downs and came away with a 4-1 win over Barham.
This week they had a 3-1 win over Rich River, with three wins and two halves. Next week they take on Murray Downs at Rich River.
The next 9 hole social golf event will be on Sunday April 12 with a 12 noon shotgun start. After golf there will be live music and the bistro open all day. The event will be 4-person ambrose and entry fee $10 per player.
Those participating in the popular Blind Footy Tipping competition are reminded their cards must be submitted by next Wednesday, March 4. Participants should also mark the end of year function in their diary, which will be on Friday, September 11.
The Flagstick Bistro continues to be open six days a week, from Wednesday to Monday, with quality meals at a reasonable price, including specials and a lunch menu.
