The Deniliquin RSL Sub-branch, which organises the event, is hoping for a big roll-up to raise much needed funds, while also supporting the golf club.
It will be an 18 hole four-person ambrose with 11am assembly for 11.30am shotgun start.
The $30 entry fee includes lunch, and there will also be a drinks cart on course and novelty events. Book online or at the pro shop.
The recent 9-hole ambrose events have been very popular, and hopefully this will flow on to Diggers Day.
Winners of last Sunday’s 9 holes social ambrose were Graeme Willoughby, Brendan Willoughby, Chris Mitsch and Robert Karaitiana.
Last Thursday was single stableford for the Rita Barnes Goblet, won by Leanne Landy with 41 points from runner-up Linda Brant on 40.
Saturday was men’s monthly medal won by Simon Tilders with a net 68, and runner-up in that grade was Jaxon O’Donnell 71.
The A-grade winner was Peter Joice net 70 from runner-up Thomas Bult 73, and C-grade winner Nick Metcalfe net 73 from runner-up Sarah Aitken 75.
On Monday, Deniliquin Golf Club hosted its annual event for the Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers, with locals figuring prominently.
Dan Wade won B-grade with 35 points, Ken Pearce won C-grade with 32 points and ball winners included John Radeski, Norm Purtill, Graeme Willoughby, Leigh Chappell, Ron Friend, Garry Baker and Bryan Bennett.
On Wednesday, in delightful autumn golfing conditions, the A-grade winner was Jaxon O’Donnell with 42 points from runner-up Barry Barlow 37; B-grade winner Toby Rae with 40 points from runner-up Jamie Loy 38; and C-grade winner Angus Knuckey 41 points from runner-up Jane Glowrey 38.
Coming up, we have a versus par event tomorrow for the Bruce Laing Cup. On Tuesday, it’s the 9 hole stableford shoot-out championship, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday is a 4-person ambrose and next Saturday is stableford.
