Tongala is fighting to keep its Murray Netball League season alive, recording a clinical win over struggler Finley in round 10 action.
The Blues rolled through the Cats at Finley Recreation Reserve to win 63-44.
A six-goal advantage at quarter-time was converted into a 31-20 lead at the main break as Tongala took full control.
Finley responded coming out of the half and managed to edge the third period by a goal to get the deficit back to 10.
The Blues would then return to dominance in the final period, winning it 17-8 to improve to 4-6 for the year.
Grace Hammond’s youthful squad continues to search for consistent results in the absence of veteran goaler Milly Brock.
Deputising goal shooter Meg Brennan performed well against the Cats in partnership with Emmalea Wishart as the other starting goaler.
The 2023 champion is in seventh position, needing to make up a game and a half in the remaining eight fixtures to secure a finals berth.
A potentially season-defining fixture this weekend at Numurkah, the team above the Blues on the ladder, could either put Tonny on the brink of the top six, or see it fall even further adrift of post-season netball.
