Tongala were simply too good. They played with speed and precision that we just couldn't combat.
While the scoreboard didn't fall our way, the positive was that we played four solid quarters ourselves.
We just weren't quite as polished as our opponents.
It was pleasing to once again see our young guns Ava Marshall, Phoebe Newman and Hannah McBurnie take the court and continue their development at senior level.
Ella Park was steady in defence and contested strongly throughout the match. Annie Harvey was sleek through the midcourt, while Steph Birk made her opponent earn every possession with her relentless pressure.
Our ‘R U Okay? Award’ went to the always smiling Chloe Way, whose positive attitude and effort were outstanding all day.
Awards: Ella Park, Annie Harvey, Steph Birk and Chloe Way.
B-grade: Deni Rams 26 def by Tongala 70.
Tonny are currently flying, but we set our own goals before the game, to play out four strong quarters and reduce the score margin from our previous outing against them. We achieved both, which was a pleasing result for the team.
An added bonus was being able to give our juniors, Bella Hillier, Zoe Circuitt and Georgia Henderson, another opportunity to experience senior netball.
They embraced the challenge and continued to gain valuable experience at the higher level.
Dakota Mitsch was consistent in attack all day and even had the opportunity in the final quarter to muscle up against a great mate wearing the Tonny colours, adding a few smiles across the court.
Shontai O'Callaghen and Zoe Circuitt fought hard from start to finish and never stopped competing.
Our ‘R U Okay? Award’ went to Molly Bradley, just being a player everyone loves to have on their side.
Awards: Dakota Mitsch, Shontai O’Callaghan, Zoe Circuitt and Molly Bradley.
C-grade: Deni Rams 14 def by Tongala 80.
Rams C-grade put in a stellar effort on Saturday against ladder leaders Tongala.
In a very close game, Rams trialled several different combinations, one of the most memorable being the Hussey sisters in goals.
Despite the huge defensive efforts by Georgie McCalman, Rams were unable to take home the four points, but they tried their best.
Awards: Georgia McCalman, Kayla Hussey, Macy Butcher and Jade Hussey.
C-Reserve: Deni Rams 25 def by Tongala 83.
C-Reserve took on top-of-the-ladder Tongala this week and, while the scoreboard didn't quite tell the story we were hoping for, the girls never stopped trying.
With the result looking safe in the second half (for Tongala, anyway), it was the perfect chance to throw the bibs up and try a few new combos.
Rose Nevinson was outstanding in defence, getting fingertips to what felt like just about every second ball.
Lucy Dudley took on GD with her usual enthusiasm, launching herself into contests with such commitment that we're still not entirely sure how she managed to pull in a few rebounds against players half a foot taller.
At the other end, Grace McMahon and Keely Hussey surprised everyone by looking like they'd been shooting together for years.
Keely Hussey made the defenders work overtime with her strongholds and rebounding before deciding it was time to pop a few through, while Grace McMahon glided around the circle, so naturally we're now wondering if she's been hiding her shooting talents all season.
Awards: Rose Nevinson, Grace McMahon, Lucy Dudley and Remy Henderson.
Under-17s: Deni Rams 47 def by Tongala 62.
The Rams under-17s took to the court against ladder leaders, Tongala, on Saturday. The girls strung together some very positive passages of play through the mid-court into attack.
Phoebe Newman and Zoe Circuitt proved a problem for the Tongala defenders, with Circuitt providing movement and Newman positioning well for the high ball.
Alice Circuitt combined well with different defensive combinations and stayed solid and disciplined in the defensive ring.
The mid-courters worked tirelessly, with another strong, consistent game from Bella Hillier.
Overall, a super effort by our girls coming into the end of season.
Awards: Zoe Circuitt, Phoebe Newman, Alice Circuitt and Bella Hillier.

Stella Butcher and Lexi Maher delivered accurate feeds while working tirelessly through the midcourt alongside Bailee Dunn and Chloe Marshall, who remained composed in both attack and defence.
Harriet Maher and Julia Smith were relentless in defence, getting plenty of hands to the ball and creating important turnovers.
