Katandra’s first quarter was their best, they were able to put a good score on the board, which held them in good stead.
All players had great games, finding the best players for the day was hard.
Tommy Clohesy had a good game running and showing no signs of being scared of the game.
Charlie Tremble was able to take some good marks and was also able to keep possession of the ball.
The Gordons - Ruby and Liam - combined well to move the ball out of the back line, with Liam back pocket and Ruby centre halfback. It’s always great to see siblings working together.
Jack Brown had a great day in full back with Degan Morgan sick. He really stepped up for the day, getting the $10 prize from the Kelly family.
Best on ground was Logan Marshall, also scoring his first goal of the year.
Helen Fevaleaki played her usual tough centre game, putting multiple tackles in, fighting very hard to keep the ball in control.
Andrew Frost had his trademark game of running and chasing the ball and winning the ball many times because of the effort he always puts in.
Liam had his best game of the year, really stepping up and putting in some great tackles and then able to win the ball.
The fourths are really improving each week, even with players away.
It will be exciting to see a full team run onto the field and see their full potential next weekend.
Final score: Blighty 1.1 (7) def by Katandra 18.15 (123).
Fifths
It was another good game with low numbers, but was good to get the kids to put themselves where they wanted to play on the field.
We as coaches learnt a lot this week about these kids.
The awards were extremely hard to pick from, as everyone on the field deserved one.
First was Hugh H who can play everywhere and shows it weekly.
Deakin, who has shown improvements weekly, but, is up for a challenge and beats it every time.
Jack is another universal player and loves getting his hands on the ball for a bit of a run and carry.
Alfie his confidence is getting up there and is improving as well as his football skills.
Dustin has been a bit shy and quiet. He started off like it the first half but, thanks to his dad for some tips, it won’t be happening now. He played a great second half and is finding his feet.
