Preparations are well underway for the 2026 Deniliquin Gold Cup to be run at the local racecourse on Saturday, October 17.

The track is in excellent condition and large fields are expected for a six race card, which has total prizemoney of $76,000 and will again have Deniliquin RSL Club on board as major sponsor.
The day coincides with major metropolitan meetings with The Everest at Randwick, in Sydney, and the time-honoured Caulfield Cup at Caulfield, in Melbourne.
Tickets will be available on Eventbrite or at the gate. Tickets are $25 for adults and under 18s are free.
The 2026 Deniliquin Gold Cup, a 1400m handicap, will be the feature event, with a strong program of support races.
As usual, there will be a fun country atmosphere and lots of entertainment.
At this time of year Deniliquin generally enjoys pleasant spring weather, which helps draw a bumper crowd.
Fashions on the Field always creates plenty of interest and will be a highlight of the day.
Categories are Junior Girls & Boys, Senior Girls & Boys, Millinery, Lady of the Day, Contemporary Lady of the Day, Gentleman of the Day, and Couple of the Day.
The punter is well catered for at Deniliquin races with a large undercover betting ring that includes local and metropolitan bookmakers, as well as TAB facilities.
Catering services will include a licensed bar and food available for hungry racing patrons.
Since the club’s Anzac Day meeting earlier this year, work has continued to ensure the track and surrounds are in tip top condition for both horse racing and those seeking a social day out.
A lot of hard work goes into preparing for the day and the club appreciates the strong support it gets from the local and regional community.
The Deniliquin Gold Cup is one of two race days each year at the local track, with the other being Anzac Day.
Race day gates open at noon, with the main bar and Peppercorn Marquee also opening at noon. Peppercorn Marquee tickets are still available on Eventbrite.
Buses will run from various locations in Deniliquin taking patrons to the racecourse, and returning after the last race.
The Deniliquin racecourse features a 2000m turf track which has undergone recent upgrades, including installation of new railing.
