The Booligal Sheep Races are set to continue their reputation as one of the region’s most distinctive community events, bringing visitors together for a uniquely Australian day of sheep racing and country hospitality.

To be held Saturday, October 3, it’s described as a “unique outback family fun day out”.
Held at the Booligal Cricket Ground, the event traditionally opens its gates at 11am, welcoming locals and travellers alike to enjoy a relaxed day of entertainment.

Admission is kept low, making it an affordable outing for families and groups.
A highlight of the day is the sheep racing itself.
Participants can hire a racing sheep, and with 20 heats of five sheep, there’s plenty of chances to get involved.
The excitement continues throughout the afternoon, including the opportunity to bid on one of 10 auction sheep offered after heat eight.
Beyond the racing, visitors can enjoy an all-day barbecue, soft drinks and other refreshments.
Families are well catered for, with children’s activities and popular side events to get involved in.
