Deniliquin bush poet Alex Allitt gathered with friends and family at the Deniliquin Golf Club to celebrate his 90th birthday on Saturday afternoon.
The day included special performances from Deniliquin’s Sing Australia group and the Deni Uke Muster, of which Alex was a founding member of each.
Members of the Poetry club also performed with Mick Coventry, Cathy Cleary and David Schoeffell all writing and performed special poems for Alex, along with Ian Hill performing his poem and Graeme Dick singing Henry Lawson poems.
Alex’s actual birthday was on Thursday, February 21.
