Deniliquin Bowling Club’s Division One and Two sides have made their way into the finals of the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division.
Division One snuck into the finals despite losing all three rinks in a heavy 83 to 48 shot loss to Tongala on Saturday.
However, with Rich River suffering a 19 shot loss to Echuca, the Deniliquin team held onto fourth spot on the ladder with only a four shot differential splitting fourth and fifth.
Steven King, Lindsay Franklin, John Flisher and Jamie Shields (s) had a tough day, going down by 15 shots, 26 to 11.
Tony Scoullar, Robert Morris, Peter Chadderton and Shane Laing (s) lost by 10 shots with a 28 to 18 result.
David Hessell, Stuart Treble, Stefan Truelsen and Simon Chisholm (s) suffered a 10 shot loss, with a 29 to 19 margin.
Deni will have to re-group this week when they travel to Rich River to face Tongala again in an elimination final on Saturday.
Division Two had an outstanding 24 shot win against Tongala away from home.
The visitors won on two rinks and with a tie in the remaining match-up managed to finish ahead of Tongala 79 to 55..
Bill Young, Harry Lea, Linda Harris and Paul Snare (s) took home an incredible 14 shot win 30 to 16.
Graham Nisbet, Kevin Keane, Bryan Kemnitz and Lloyd Richie (s) were also victorious for Deni, 30 to 20.
Toni Brooksby, Mark Tasker, Lee Hillier and Keith Plattfuss (s) had a tight battle, resulting in a 19-all draw after 25 ends.
The win cemented third spot on the ladder for Deni, with Division Two travelling to Rich River to take on Mathoura in an elimination final on Saturday.
Deni’s Division Three were knocked out of finals contention following a massive 60 shot loss to ladder leader Moama.
Deni went down on all three rinks in the 106 to 46 loss, which saw them drop to fifth.
Maxine Norton, Tony King, Tony Danckert and Tom Todd (s) were never in their contest, going down by a massive 36 shots with Moama winning 44 to 8.
Danny Stanmore, Col Knuckey, Graeme Dedman and David Seymour (s) had a closer game but were still on the wrong end of an 11 shot margin, losing 32 to 21.
Michael Donohue, Peter Scerri, Ray Anderson and Russell Douglas (s) also lost going down to Moama 30 to 17.
The heavy loss brought an end to Division Three’s season, with rival across the road Deni RSL pinching fourth spot on the ladder.
Deni’s Division Five won one of two rinks but still suffered a 34 shot loss.
Sheena Wubbels, Keith Hay, Caryn Hillier and Alan Hardcastle (s) were 36 shots down, Moama green winning the match 63 to 29.
Louie Villella, Ian Chessells, Clarrie Cameron and Joanne Bovell (s) narrowly won the rink 22 to 20 giving Deni one of the two games.
Unfortunately the win was not enough to adjust scores in their favour going down 29 to 63.
