Border to remain open

Travel across the NSW and Victorian borders has not been banned.

Speculation the borders would be closed was put to rest on Wednesday when NSW Cross Border Commissioner James McTavish and Victorian Cross Border Commissioner Luke Wilson conducted a teleconference with border councils.

They assured the councils there were no plans in place to close the borders, but did reiterate that non-essential travel interstate was to be avoided.

The borders remain open for residents who commute interstate to work, school and for essential services that may otherwise not be accessible within their home towns.
