Local NAIDOC Week celebrations have kicked off in style, with a range of activities recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and achievements, while also marking 50 years of NAIDOC.

The week-long program included an opening morning tea, flag-raising ceremony and community barbecue on Monday.
This was followed by an Elders day on Tuesday, and youth focused activities on Wednesday, including a bus trip to the Dharnya Centre in Barmah and Yarkuwa Children’s Day.
Yesterday, the Koori Market took centre stage, and there were art and dancing workshops at Yarkuwa.
The cultural week concludes today with the Community Sports Day at Deniliquin Stadium.
Open to all, it will be held at the Deniliquin Stadium from 9.30am to 3pm.
Stadium and Yarkuwa staff will host a series of games and fun activities for all ages.
The schedule includes a community barbecue from 12pm.
