The Greg Graham Memorial Scholarship is valued at $10,000 and the Peter Connor Book Award is valued at $3000.
Both are designed to help alleviate financial pressures for tertiary students, and facilitate greater focus on university study.
It also enables students to move away from home and study at a time when this may not otherwise be possible, particularly during years of drought and hardship.
Eligibility criteria includes:
● Applicants must be the child or grandchild of a current financial member of RGA; and/or the child or grandchild of an A Class shareholder.
● Applicants must be in their second or successive year of studying an agricultural focused and/or industry related course at an Australian tertiary institution.
● Applicants need to demonstrate a commitment to the rice industry.
Since its inception in 2001, 38 students have benefited from the generosity and foresight of SunRice, Rice Research Australia and rice industry supporters in providing the scholarship.
In response, most of these students have returned to our communities and farms with the latest knowledge and skills, to strengthen and rejuvenate our agricultural industry. Application close February 15.
Interviews will then be conducted on February 24, and the successful applicants announced the following day.
For more details and to apply, go to the rga.org.au, and search under the tabs of ‘the rice industry’ and then ‘scholarships’.
