Apex members reunite after more than 20 years

With 127 members passing through its ranks, the group was known for hands-on community work, including woodcutting for elderly residents and fundraising for local organisations.

Organiser Lyn Emmett said the reunion was a chance to reminisce and reconnect.

“It’s been heart warming to get everyone back together, looking at old photos and sharing stories,” she said.

While the club no longer exists, many former members have stayed in touch over the years.

Ms Emmett said the decline of groups such as Apex reflected broader changes in community life.

“A lot of these community groups have disappeared, people are busier now,” she said.

Despite this, she said the values of the club remained relevant.

“You get back what you give,” she said.

The reunion offered a reminder of the strong community spirit that once defined the group and the lasting connections formed through service.
