Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were called to the home on Burns St, Hillston, after the shooting about 2.30am on September 20.
Police were told the man and two women, aged 31 and 56, were in the home when three people entered. One allegedly had a firearm.
The resident was shot twice before the intruders left.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Griffith Hospital and then transferred to a major metropolitan hospital.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Griffith Police or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sculpture nears completion
The project to have a life size bronze statue of a 12 year-old John Monash meeting Ned Kelly with his horse is almost completed.
The Jerilderie project began in 2020. It was initiated by four local ladies - Irene Wells, Helen Huggins, Sue Neilan and Gwen McLaughlin - and encouraged by the late Tim Fischer, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.
General Sir John Monash was, arguably, Australia’s greatest soldier.
He attended Jerilderie Public School, where he was Dux.
He then went on for further education at Scotch College, Melbourne, where he was joint Dux in his final year.
The statue will depict a young Monash accepting a shilling from Ned Kelly, as payment for holding his horse while he conducted business with Monash senior.
This meeting was written about in Roland Perry’s book Monash, The Outsider Who Won A War, and was said to have taken place about a year before the raid on Jerilderie.
With no access to federal or state government funding, financial support for the $500,000 project has come from far and wide.
Renowned sculptor, Brett (Mon) Garling was engaged to produce the statue, which is expected to be unveiled in a special ceremony on November 17.

Top goal pays dividends
Tongala Football Netball Club was handed a big boost, thanks to talismanic export Harley Reid.
The 2023 number-one draft pick and West Coast Eagles star earned $10,000 for his community club after being awarded goal of the year.
Reid’s rampaging run from a centre bounce in round 10 against Melbourne, leading to him slotting a running effort from the edge of forward 50, beat out two Nick Daicos majors to win the award.
It is the second straight year a first-year player has kicked goal of the year after Will Ashcroft accomplished the feat last year.
Reid himself will pick up a $50,000 payday from award sponsor NAB, while $10,000 will go to Tonny.
