A continuous crowd started arriving at the Deniliquin Waring Gardens from before the 11am kick-off time, and trick-or-treaters dressed in a wide range of fun and spooky costumes spent the next two hours roaming the CBD and visiting participating businesses.
Participants could also enjoy themed activities, win prizes, visit local service provider stalls and enjoy the free sausage sizzle from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin.
Aiding attendance of the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group (Deni MHAG) event was the day-time format, and Halloween falling on a Saturday.
It helped create a fun and safe Halloween experience for local families.
Deni MHAG president Lourene Liebenberg was extremely pleased with the turnout.
While the fanfare of Halloween was a draw, Mrs Liebenberg said the overriding message was to connect and support one another, reinforcing the motto ‘Mental health, it’s not as scary as you think!’.
The free event was sponsored by Origin, with further support from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin, Channel4Change, Edward River Art Society, Ace Radio, Deniliquin Pastoral Times and Edward River Council.
