Bumper crowds at 49th Historic Winton

The 49th Historic Winton delivered its biggest crowds, race fields and displays in years at Winton Motor Raceway near Benalla, with a wet Saturday giving way to perfect conditions on Sunday.

Event chair John Kessner said the weekend was an exceptional celebration of historic motoring.

“Whoever I talk to at the event, whether it be competitors, display club members, traders or spectators, they all say the same thing, that it’s a really great event,” Mr Kessner said.

Off-track highlights included the largest collection of cycle karts ever assembled in Australia, a 30-strong convoy of Mini Mokes marking 60 years of the iconic vehicle, and displays from about 30 clubs.

Art Deco Flexible Clipper Buses, Model T Fords, Harry Ferguson tractors and a debut display from the Australian Ride-on Racing Lawn Mower Association added to the spectacle.

“Vehicles on show were either elegant, rustic, quirky or just plain fun,” Mr Kessner said.
