The DCJ spokesperson said CareSouth - which has an office in Deniliquin - would continue to provide the service until the existing contract expires next year.
CareSouth has reiterated that day‑to‑day care arrangements remain unchanged, and that its priority remains the wellbeing and sense of belonging of children in care.
It will continue to work with DCJ to ensure a “safe, carefully planned” transition for children, young people, carers and staff.
“This decision followed sustained efforts by DCJ to improve the provider’s performance and contract compliance, as well as ongoing regulatory oversight by the Office of the Children’s Guardian,” the DCJ spokesperson said.
“CareSouth’s current contract remains in place until June 30, 2027.
“During this time, DCJ will work with CareSouth to ensure children and young people continue to receive the care and support they require while transition planning takes place.
“Carers will also continue to receive updates and guidance as arrangements are worked through.
“The paramount focus throughout the transition will be maintaining stable placements, ensuring continuity of support for children, young people and their carers.”
CareSouth is awaiting further advice from DCJ regarding the scope and timing of the transition.
Other CareSouth programs - including Family Connections, Aunties & Uncles, NDIS supports and youth homelessness services - will continue to operate.
