About 30 Deniliquin High School students have qualified for Riverina cross country, after strong performances across all age groups at the school’s event.

The first five runners home overall were Bentley Hardman, Enzo Sztejman, Jack McGrillen, Rocky Sztejman and Samuel Strong, while the top five girls were Ella Charlton, Frida Gallpen‑Brown, Chloe Marshall, Khoa Unwin and Phoebe Crothers.
Age champions were decided across the 12 to 17‑year divisions.
In the 12‑year girls, Bella Leetham claimed the title.
The 13‑year boys saw Lenny Hanns, Jordyn Brain and Ned Wettenhall lead the way, while the 13‑year girls honours went to Chloe Marshall, Khoa Unwin and Sophie Bulmer.
The 14‑year boys podium featured Rocky Sztejman, Samuel Strong and Kade Golds, with Ella Charlton, Dimity McKie and Aleah Leetham taking out the 14‑year girls.
In the 15‑year boys, Bentley Hardman finished ahead of Jack McGrillen and Ryan Squires, while the 15‑year girls saw Frida Gallpen‑Brown, Isabella Sommerfeld and Lily Peterson claim the top three places.
The 16‑year boys title went to Enzo Sztejman, followed by Corben Hayes and Eli Purtill, with Brydey Maher, Elka Connolly and Eliza Weir leading the 16‑year girls.
The senior 17‑year boys were headed by Hamish Baker, Max Ferguson and Liam Ford, while Phoebe Crothers, Aria Taylor and Ava Richards topped the 17‑year girls.
In the house competition, Edward claimed the win with 168 points, narrowly ahead of Nyrangi on 165.
The top three runners from each age group progress through to the Riverina level on Friday, June 12.
They will compete against students from places like Albury, Wagga Wagga, and Balranald.
The top runners at the regional level then progress to state, which is held in Sydney late in Term 3.
