A contingent of local runners took on the annualRun Echuca Moama last Sunday, August 2, with many returning with great results.

Runners could select from a 21.1km half marathon, 10km and 5km events, and for the smaller athletes there was the Junior Bolt.
Deniliquin’s Monty Jones was the fastest female finisher in the 10km, with an outstanding time of 39 minutes and 54 seconds.
Everyone who took part would have been sore Monday, but seemed to have enjoyed the event.
Monty Jones was one of many from Deniliquin running at the Run Echuca Moama event.
Mobile food bank visit
If you or someone else you know needs food support, a mobile food bank from Echuca Neighbourhood House will be visiting Mathoura next Wednesday, August 12 between 11am and 1pm.
It is free and open to anyone across the district, and will be parked at the Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre, just off the Cobb Hwy.
The mobile food bank will have a range of fresh produce, pantry staples and pre-cooked meals. Please bring your own shopping bag.

Census night on Tuesday
Census night is this coming Tuesday, August 11 and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is reminding everyone to check their mailboxes for instructions on how to participate.
Most households will receive instructions to complete the Census online, with paper forms available on request for those who prefer them.
If you received a paper form, you can still complete the Census online if you prefer.
Once you receive your instructions, you can complete your Census straight away.
It will take the average household around 30 minutes to complete the form.
The Peppin Heritage Centre already had the 'Best Of' Exhibition in May, and will now host the 2026 Bald Archy Prize - one of the most anticipated touring exhibitions in Australia.
Each year artists of all styles and standards are invited to submit comic or satirical portraits of a distinguished Australian that embrace humour, parody and caricature.
The result has been three decades of celebrating the lighter side of art and the larrikin Australian spirit.
Entries from this year will be available for viewing in Deni from this Saturday, August 8.
The Deniliquin Peppin Heritage Centre’s gallery space is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sundays from 9am to 2pm. An entry fee of $3 applies.

Member for Murray Helen Dalton is used to representing the local area, but it took a slightly different form this week.
Helen shared a photo of herself as a member of the NSW Parliamentary women’s netball team last Sunday.
The side played the Local Government women’s team, and won the tough match 11 to 9.
