Chantelle Shevels and Kane Barnes have each signed up for the event's demolition derby, and will raise funds for their chosen causes in the process.
Mrs Shevels will be entering the event to help raise funds for Deniliquin's CanAssist branch.
She will do so by ‘selling’ panels of her derby car to businesses for advertising.
“There is not set price for a donation but the more businesses donate the more space they will get,” Mrs Shevels said.
“All money received from the businesses will go directly to CanAssist, and I will cover the costs of the stickers and any other car costs myself.
“I was lucky enough to have the car donated to me by Three Rivers Shearing.
“Since I've gotten the car we've been working on making it derby ready.
“We need to remove all glass, headlights, plastic, side mirrors and the fuel tank.
“We have to insert a fuel cell into the car as well as cross-bracing in the driver's side and mesh for the driver's side window.”
Mrs Shevels, as a committee member of the Pastoral & Agricultural Society which runs the show, said she volunteered to take part in the derby to help promote the annual event.
She also serves as the poultry steward for the Deniliquin Show each year.
“We wanted to bring some light-hearted entertainment to the local community, particularly after such devastation recently with bushfires and the drought,” she said.
“I put my hand up to gain traction to promote the show, particularly with it being the 140th year of the event.
“We've had a few entries for the derby so far.
“I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also quite nervous.”
Mr Barnes will also offer space on his derby car for advertising, with the fee from businesses donated to support fire services in NSW.
“I just want to do my part to raise money and support New South Wales firefighters. I hope to donate all money I can raise to a local brigade,” he said.
People have the opportunity to "purchase" the panels of his Ford Fiesta.
“There are no limits on the panels, but the more money you donate, the bigger space you will have to put something on the car,” Mr Barnes said.
“If I get enough sponsors, I have the opportunity to use the space on a second car which will be entering as well.
“I'd love to see people get involved and support this cause, whether you donate, sponsor, enter the derby or just come along and cheer us on at the event.”
