The Pretty Pine Father’s Day Market & Expo delivered another strong turnout on Sunday, with some of the competitive activities crating plenty of interest.

A crowd favourite was the dog jump, with spectators and competitors alike in awe of the final result.
John Bowie’s dog ‘Jim’ took the win with an impressive eight‑foot leap.
Held in conjunction with the Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo, the Pretty Pine Farm Truck Show once again highlighted the region’s deep connection to agriculture and transport.
Among the standout moments of the day was the win by 18 year‑old Holly Allitt, who took out the Pretty Pine Haulage Farm Truck of the Show award with the family’s Western Star FX 4800.
Holly, who returns home from Yanco Agricultural College to help on the family farm, has a lot of enthusiasm for machinery and rural life.
She said the competition was “something I’m into”, adding that farm work appeals to her because “you’re not just doing the same thing every day”.
Holly’s aim is to get her truck licence.
Her father Craig Allitt said Holly has been getting some practice in with the winning truck on the farm.
“It’s a generational farm,” he said, noting Holly’s commitment to stepping into the next chapter.
“We’ve had the truck for 10 years, and Holly drives it around the farm.
“She can cart herself around well, and as soon as she can get her license for the roads I’ll have to spend my time in the header.
“Credit to the other trucks (in the competition), there was some beautiful trucks - very pristine.”
The Stringer family also had a big win at the market, claiming the major raffle prize donated by Agspares.
Second prize, an Engel fridge supplied by Nutrien, went to Michael Blenkiron, and the third prize, an introductory flight with Jennifer Laird, was claimed by Robyn Murray.
The annual fundraising event also featured the Rubber Ducky Derby, train rides, a car display, music, tug-of-war, sheaf toss, children’s races, cross-cut saw competition, petting zoo, virtual golf and much more.
Organisers extended “sincere appreciation” to the generous sponsors and local businesses who helped make the event possible.
“Their generosity helps us continue to raise important funds for local community initiatives and ensures the Pretty Pine Father’s Day Market & Expo remains a much-loved annual event,” the committee said.
“We also thank our dedicated volunteers, stallholders, entertainers, participants, farmers, families and everyone who attended and supported the day.
“We look forward to seeing you all again next year!”
