When Doug Tebbens arrived at the Deniliquin Coach House on Saturday night for dinner, he was blissfully unaware that a large group of well wishers had gathered there especially to see him.

Turning 80 more than a week earlier, on June 3, he was successfully surprised with a birthday party attended by family and friends, including his pals from the Deniliquin Collectors Club.
Even after his son arrived in Deniliquin from Townsville, Doug still had no idea the size of the party that awaited him.
Other guests came mostly from the local area, but some travelled from Melbourne, Sydney and Euroa.
