EWON’s Energy Transition team is hosting drop-in sessions to answer questions and discuss complaints from locals impacted by projects taking place in the SOuth West Renewable Energy Zone.
This includes four large scale wind and solar farm projects which have been granted right of access by Energy Co, and the proposed overhead powerline project referred to as VNI West.
EWON’s role is to provide an independent dispute resolution service.
Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW Janine Young said they cannot put a stop to the projects and do not represent government, industry or consumers.
Her team works to achieve fair and reasonable outcomes for all parties.
“The EWON team is coming to the South West Renewable Energy Zone to listen to communities affected by transmission infrastructure, to fully understand the issues locals are facing, provide advice and resolve complaints,” Ms Young said.
“EWON can assist with issues resulting from actions taken by infrastructure entities that affect property, community engagement, land access and agreements, conduct of contractors working for infrastructure entities, the Strategic Benefits Payments Scheme and more.”
EWON’s ‘no wrong door’ referral service also connects locals to other agencies for assistance with complaints and enquiries.
“We can’t stop or delay these projects, but we can help people navigate the maze of different organisations involved in delivering the transmission and network infrastructure,” Ms Young said.
Morning or afternoon tea will be provided at all drop-in sessions.
