It wasn’t their first effort either, with Olivia’s mum, Jess Butcher, saying the girls have “done multiple bake sales and bracelet selling” in the past.
Mrs Butcher said the cause is close to home.
“Olivia’s grandmother has had a few scares,” she said, adding that the girls “can see the benefits of what it does for the community.”
Olivia echoed that personal connection.
“My nan has melanoma, and we wanted to help out,” she said.
For the pair, their favourite sweet treat to make - and eat - was the jelly slice.
And they are already thinking ahead to their next bake sale.
“We might do one again, at the market,” Havana said.
The girls thanked their parents for helping with the baking, and said they were proud to hand over their donation to support local families affected by cancer.
Deniliquin Can Assist supports locals who have had a cancer diagnosis.
All money raised locally stays local, and is donated to help cover costs associated with treatment. This can include travel and accommodation costs.
