The occupant of a Junction St home was woken about 2.50am on Monday, and saw the ute being driven away.
A GPS tracking software was activated and details provided to Deniliquin Police, who found the vehicle abandoned on the Moulamein-Barham Rd, near Barham.
Detective Chief Insp Jy Brown said the ute has since been towed so it can undergo full forensic testing, in the hopes it may lead police to the offender/s.
“Inquiries are ongoing in relation to this stealing offences, and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” he said.
“There have been a number of vehicles reported stolen in Moama and Deniliqun in the last few weeks, so we urge people to take extra care and use every safety precaution at thier disposal - CCTV, sensor lights and other deterrent devices are particularly recommended.
“You can contact police to provide a safety audit at your home to determine best placement of such devices, and advise on any other safety measures you may need.”
