A tree in my garden stood bare just weeks ago.
Now, smothered in pretty blossoms, it’s a reminder that every season in life is temporary, and change is to be expected.
Though natural seasons are more predictable than personal ones, it’s true of both, that no matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.
Spring is the season of hope. Wintry chill is a fast-fading memory when the leafless drabness is overtaken by the bright bloom of spring.
Spring, itself, is a promise of even brighter days to come, inspiring hope for future fruitfulness and harvest.
You might be navigating through a personal winter right now.
Maybe a barren season of grief appears unending; an answer to prayer seems long overdue; a season of frustration and confusion offers no visible sign of progression.
Don’t give up. Spring is on its way. Suddenly you’ll be surprised by the blossoming signs of your hoped-for breakthrough.
There are similarities when comparing winter with a life devoid of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
“You will never know the fullness of Christ until you know the emptiness of everything else.” (Charles Spurgeon).
Just as the harshness of winter creates a desire for spring, acknowledging a lack of peace with God produces a yearning for reconciliation.
The moment you recognise that God’s great love for you was proven through Jesus’ death on the cross, you glimpse the coming spring.
Spring arrives in full bloom when you receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour of your life.
“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” (Col 1:13-14).
An eternal season of abundance is the inheritance promised to followers of Christ. The best is yet to come!
