In 2020, amidst the early stages of the COVID pandemic, we made the significant decision to move from Sydney to Deniliquin.
Our younger daughter was just eight months old at that time.
Over the past six years, we truly embraced life in this remarkable town.
Our journey deeply connected us with the community, the beautiful countryside, and the serene river surroundings that Deniliquin offers.
During our time here, we have developed a profound appreciation for the warmth and friendliness of the people, as well as the town and what it has to offer.
From enjoying the river and its enchanting waterways to participating in church activities, local sports and community events for the kids, Deniliquin became more than just a place to live; it became home.
My fishing trips on the Edward River, the Billabong Creek and the Colligen Creek are memories I will cherish forever.
We made lifelong friendships for ourselves and our children, creating a rich tapestry of shared experiences.
Regrettably, we had to leave Deniliquin earlier this year to address the schooling needs of our children.
However, we are still holding on to our home in Deni and made a heartfelt promise to the community: we will return to this hidden treasure that we love.
During my tenure in Deniliquin, I also had the unique opportunity to be involved in the operation of the Barham Medical Centre, previously managed by Ochre Health.
As circumstances changed, I felt compelled to support two dear friends, who were the doctors at Barham, and to make a positive impact.
This motivated me to establish Quantum Clinical Care PTY LTD alongside two experienced GPs from Geelong.
Together, we successfully revitalized the clinic, expanding the team from two to five doctors in just a year, significantly improving appointment availability.
Quantum has since thrived, launching a dedicated Telehealth service and a second clinic in rural Victoria.
It saddens us to witness Deniliquin facing challenges in healthcare.
Regardless of differing perspectives, important decisions have been made, and the future is now in motion. Listening to the concerns of our friends, colleagues, and former patients has inspired us to take a proactive step forward.
Thus, we are committed to stepping up as Quantum to take over the Medical Centre when the Edward River Council calls for expressions of interest.
Both Madu and I have a deep familiarity with the community, the clinic staff, and the local healthcare landscape.
With our successful track record in Barham and our unwavering dedication, we are eager to ensure a smooth transition and establish effective operations for the betterment of healthcare in Deniliquin.
We genuinely believe that, if given the opportunity, we can make a significant positive impact on the health and wellbeing of this community that we hold so dear.
We believe that, whatever is said and done, the most important factor is ensuring good quality healthcare for the Deniliquin community, as they deserve.
