The ‘SRN/PT Push It Good’ team is now in the final week of the 2026 Push-Up Challenge.
It’s a nationwide mental health fundraising initiative that combines physical activity with awareness and education.
The challenge invites participants to complete 3,249 push-ups over 24 days while raising funds for mental health organisations.
The push-up total represents the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2024.
Funds raised will be distributed to organisations like Lifeline, headspace and the Push For Better Foundation.
But team member and PT/SRN general manager Nigel Lutton said another goal is to raise awareness of local organisations like the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group, which is consistently working to support improved mental health in the community.
This includes running Youth and Standard Mental Health First Aid courses to guide locals on supporting community members, which will return to Deniliquin in July.
“Courses like those delivered by MHAG ensure our community members have the tools to respond when someone is in need,” Mr Lutton said.
“We fully support MHAG’s goal of training one in five locals in MHFA by the end of 2027, and acknowledge their hard work in obtaining funding to ensure this can be done at little to no cost to participants.”
With one week left before the Push Up Challenge concludes on June 26, the five members of SRN/PT Push It Good - Mr Lutton and his wife Katie London, PT/SRN cadet journalists Rowan Frazer and Eamon Kurta and SRN advertising consultant and advertising manager Sarah Bain - have completed a combined 7,042 push ups.
They have so far raised $440 of their $1000 fundraising goal. You donate by going to www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/fundraisers/srnptpushitgood or in person at our office.
