Congratulations to Mathoura Public School on its latest achievement.
A short time ago the school attracted the attention of the NSW Department of Education when it achieved a much-sought after 100 per cent attendance of students.
It is an achievement it had been encouraging students to work towards – and rewarded them when they individually achieved the goal.
Well, it seems the youngsters enjoyed catching up with all their friends at school so consequently 100 per cent of them turned up for fun and learning twice in the past week.
Well done to the students – and to the school’s teachers who make learning so much fun.

Christmas is coming and the geese are getting fat – so the saying goes.
But even better news is that Carols in the Park is scheduled for Sunday, December 17.
The Mathoura On The Map Committee, in conjunction with the Echuca Salvation Army, will present an evening of carols in the Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens on the corner of Livingstone and Lawrence Streets.
The event will include a barbecue, free for the community.
Organisers would appreciate a donation for the Salvation Army in return, not only for the evening’s performance but for great work in our community.

Mathoura has again been represented in Sydney this week as two students compete in the state athletics competition.
They are sisters Katelyn and Sophie Eddy, who earned their berths in the competition after success in the Riverina stage of the event.
Katelyn competed in the 11 year girls’ 1500m event while Sophie is sure to have given her all in the nine year-old girl, 100m event, as well as the junior girl 800m and 1500m events.

Great to hear that long term local, Barbara Childs, paid a visit to town to celebrate her birthday I believe.
And thanks to Peg Starkey for being her chauffeur.
The visit was not only good for Barb but allowed her many friends in town to catch up with her.
