Council is inviting residents to recognise individuals and groups who make an outstanding contribution to the community through volunteering, leadership, creativity or sporting achievement.
Nominations are open across the following award categories:
•Citizen of the Year
•Young Citizen of the Year
•Sportsperson of the Year
•Young Sportsperson of the Year
•Community Event of the Year
•Community Group of the Year
•Arts/Cultural Award (person or group)
Murray River Council Mayor John Harvie said the awards celebrate those whose contributions leave a lasting impact across local communities.
“Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, initiatives and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area,” he said.
“From dedicated volunteers and community leaders to athletes, artists and event organisers, these awards give us an opportunity to acknowledge their efforts and offer a heartfelt thank you.”
Nominations can be completed via council’s Your Say platform - www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au - by October 31.
The awards will be presented on Australia Day 2027.
