A number of the group’s members have been presented with Peak Achievement Awards for Girl Guides since January.
A club spokesperson said one of those awards was presented to a Benalla Guide for the first time in 39 years.
“Last term, we had one Junior BP award presented to Georgia Goodwin,” the spokesperson said.
“And two BP awards presented to Rebecca Goodwin and Emily Snell.”
The BP Award (Baden-Powell Award) and Junior BP award are major Girl Guides achievements, recognising leadership, service, outdoor skills, world guiding knowledge, and commitment to the promise and law.
“And, this term, on August 5, we had a very special presentation to Olivia Goodwin,” the spokesperson said.
“She is our first Queen’s Guide in Benalla for 39 years. A wonderful achievement. Bravo Olivia.”
Olivia has now earned the highest Peak Achievement Award a Girl Guide can receive.
She was presented with her Queen's Guide Award in the presence of her family, friends and the Guiding community.
Olivia Goodwin, Benalla’s first Queen’s Guide award recipient in 39 years, celebrated the achievement with friends, family and the local Guiding community.
A Queen’s Guide must work independently, and has set challenges to complete over a period of time.
The Queen’s Guide is equivalent to the King Scout and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Olivia has gained many skills working throughout the syllabus, and will receive an invitation to attend Government House for this prestigious award.
Girl Guides has three Peak Achievement Awards: Junior BP, BP and Queen's Guide.
Olivia was presented with her BP Award two years ago and decided to challenge herself to achieve greater things.
With hard work, persistence, support from her family and the Guiding community, she has had success that will stand her in good stead for her journey into the adult world.
“Girl Guides provides many things for many girls and each girl has the opportunity to take away the fun friendship and challenges they encounter through their journey in Girl Guides,” the spokesperson said.
“Congratulations, Olivia, you have made our Guiding community proud.”
