Unless connected to a wi-fi service, no calls or texts could be made or received.
Some businesses could not provide EFTPOS services, and some locals even reported wi-fi outages, although Telstra advised this should not be affected.
And there are still a few more days of it to go, with mobile base station upgrades continuing through to Sunday.
Further pre-notified disruptions include an eight-hour outage tomorrow, and a four-hour outage scheduled for Sunday morning.
Customers are encouraged to enable wi-fi calling to stay connected, and businesses should consider linking EFTPOS terminals to NBN or Wi-Fi to avoid transaction delays.
Telstra has said landline, NBN, and other mobile providers should not be affected during this upgrade period.
ERAS new exhibition is underway
The Edward River Art Society’s next members’ exhibition, ‘Birds of a Feather’, is now open and will run from October 11.
It celebrates the beauty and symbolism of birds in the local region.
The theme reflects their popularity among ERAS artists and invites creative interpretation, from realism to abstraction.
All members are encouraged to submit artwork inspired by the theme.
The exhibition is organised by Sonya Robinson and promises a vibrant showcase of local talent.
Sheep around town
Locals have spotted some sheep which are making their way around town.
At the time of going to print yesterday, their origin could not be determined.
Just before lunchtime yesterday they were spotted near the Deniliquin RSL Club in End St.
If spotted, residents are advised to contact the Edward River Council on 5898 3000.
Bridge speed restrictions
Road users are reminded that temporary speed reductions and lane closures are in place on Carrathool Rd as Edward River Council carries out safety upgrades to the Box Creek Bridge approach.
The works, running from September 10 to 19, include single lane closures, traffic control, and a 40 km/h speed limit enforced at all times.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, follow signage, and drive to conditions throughout the repair period.
The upgrades aim to improve long-term safety for all road users.
