Hillier was selected in the Riverina side playing in the NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association boys cricket championship.
While finishing seventh overall, Riverina were presented with the coveted Adam Gilchrist Spirit of Cricket award.
The award is presented to the team that shows the true spirit of cricket, based on sportsmanship and willingness to help out when needed.
The team was coached by fellow Deniliquin cricketer and High School teacher Anthony Bradley.
“Harry showed he was definitely up to the standard,” Bradley said.
“He was able to get starts but just couldn’t quite go on.
“The whole team performed quite well, on and off the field.
“We had all of us, including players, parents and coaches, helping out where we could.
“We were the last team to leave each day, sticking around and putting on the covers over the wicket each night.”
Hillier was unable to play on day one, Monday, November 4, due to illness, when Riverina lost to Sydney North. Riverina finished with 102 runs, and Sydney North easily chased them down scoring 184 with only three wickets taken.
Hillier made up for lost time on Tuesday contributing 16 runs to the win over Sydney South West.
Sydney South West were all out for 159, and Riverina gave chase to end on 8/185.
On day three Riverina were set a mammoth task against Western chasing 205, thanks to a solid 110 not out innings from Western’s Blake Weymouth.
Despite a strong effort, Riverina could not match Western, finishing 25 runs short on 180, with Hillier managing 17 runs before being stumped.
It was a horror start for Riverina in their day four clash against Sydney East.
After being set a target of 170, the side crumbled to 4/20.
Hiller played a pivotal role in bringing Riverina back into the contest however, scoring 16 runs in an innings saving 45 run partnership with Jake Scott (41).
Unfortunately the effort was not enough with Riverina all out on 141 after 36 overs.
Hillier ended the week on a high, lining up for the Deni Rhinos in Premier Grade on Saturday, November 9.
The Rhinos scored a one-sided six-wicket victory over Tocumwal to move to second spot on the Murray Valley Cricket Association ladder before having the bye this week.
