CEO Peter Duncan said the upgrade includes a 7m outward wall extension, creating a larger, roomier outdoor gaming area built by local contractors.
“We’ve involved designers, added lighting and plants, and made sure the space is protected from the elements,” he said.
“We’ve used local contractors wherever we possibly can.”
Local businesses are leading the works, with Bernie Green of B Green Constructions overseeing the build and TA Maher Electrical managing electrical works.
New furniture, including chairs, bases and privacy screens will also be installed as part of the alfresco redevelopment.
The club is also completing a $20,000 upgrade to the club’s fire alarm system, and a $600,000 heating and cooling upgrade throughout the building.
This will replace the existing 40 year‑old unit, which Mr Duncan said was “well and truly due”.
Mr Duncan said the works are an important investment in the club’s future.
“We want to give people a reason to come to our club,” he said.
“The club’s on an upward trajectory and getting good community support.
“When these projects are done, other projects are planned to commence.”
Adding to the activity around the club, the RSL is also ramping up its entertainment program.
Monday nights will be dedicated to social darts, with games starting from 7pm.
Entry is $10, and all ages and skill levels are welcome.
Saturday nights continue to feature live performances, with this month’s headline act ‘To Hell and Back’, Australia’s number‑one Meatloaf tribute show, appearing this Saturday, August 15.
