This special site was left intact, with the bush visitors giving them a wide birth after snapping a quick photograph.
Unlike most other species, the father would have been the one in charge of this nest.
And while he could not be sighted, he had most likely just ducked off to get a feed and was due back any minute.
The ducks in the Waring Gardens are aggressive enough at nesting time, so we don’t blame these forest trekkers for clearing the area as quickly as possible.

The evening includes free entry and a barbecue dinner, with all welcome to attend.
Angels reach target
Local Shitbox Rally participants Peata Smith and Tracey McDaid have been buoyed by community support, reaching their target fundraising target of $30,000.
Under the team name Deni Angels of Chaos, the pair will set off Thursday next week from Mildura to Townsville.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
Reaching their target with some generous donations last week, the team put on a thank you sausage sizzle at Mitre 10 on Sunday.
More about their efforts will be in Friday’s edition.

Chamber feedback
The Deniliquin Business Chamber is calling on locals to share their thoughts as it develops a new three‑year strategic plan.
Chamber wants to know what the future of business in Deniliquin should look like, what’s working, what isn’t, and where the biggest opportunities lie.
Whether you run a business, work locally, shop in town or simply care about Deniliquin’s direction, your feedback will help shape the priorities that guide the next few years.
The community survey closes on June 20. Go to surveymars.com/q/ins9CNhg9.
