Students from Kyabram P-12 College visited the cemetery on Monday, April 20, to pay their respects and make a tribute to veterans who courageously served for Australia by placing flags at their graves.
The project was the result of a collaborative effort by students participating in the building and construction Vocational Education and Training course, as well as the engineering students and Lone Pine ambassadors.
Kyabram P-12 community connections co-ordinator Janine Kreymborg said the students had been busy preparing the flag holders, welding and painting parts themselves from steel donated to the school by Kyabram Steel and Fabrication.
Now in its second year, the project aims for students to understand and honour the sacrifices made by veterans.
Chelsea Brown, Josie Pacitto and Charli Brennan are reflecting on the service and sacrifices made by veterans for the freedom and comfort Australians enjoy today.
