Fishing on the Murrumbidgee at Hay on Saturday, he did it barely a minute after his line hit the water.
His dad, Noel, had just set up Arkie’s kids’ rod when the 82cm cod struck, giving the young angler a moment he won’t forget in a hurry.
Using yabbies and grubs, Arkie was “over the moon” with the catch.
A cracking effort for any fisho, let alone someone so young.
